After a really long period of assurances, I had finally
arrived at Sulbha’s home. Her baby all grown up.My friend was upset that I took a year to see her daughter Ria since her birth.
Chatting, eating, gossiping and watching the baby play was a
refreshing change, to my impossibly crammed schedule.
But what the child was
doing now was unlike her happy demeanor since my arrival.
She had put on her red glasses and was crying incessantly.
She was fretting about the changed colour of her favourite doll and her toys. Sulbha
was reasoning with her that,it was due to her coloured glasses, but the kid
refused to remove her glasses and wanted all her things to look as earlier and that too
without taking her coloured glasses off.
My amusement was fast wearing off and
I found myself getting restless. It lasted a little longer till I diverted her
with a chocolate. She was later made to understand ...by my friend how it
works. Ria was elated to understand the concept that things appear different through
the coloured glasses. Pure bliss reflected on her angelic face!
As I sit at my office guiding people to better their
achievements.I realise so many times even as adults we have our coloured
glasses (perspective/notions /perceptions )on, which we just refuse to part with
and then we want to see people, objects
or senarios differently by holding on to
our preconceived/fixed mind set .
Unfortunately in many cases -a diversion like a
chocolate in case of Ria, also does not help.
Next time -when you look at things, do take time to ensure
that you have taken your glasses off.
