Radha thought of a novel way of engaging her students
today. Though the study of subject was thoroughly enjoyed by her students,
today she wanted her students to learn an important lesson.
As the students gathered outside the classroom they were
curious about the activity that their teacher had planned for them today. As a
bunch of eager teenagers they tried to catch a glimpse of what awaited them
inside.
Radha stood outside the classroom and briefed the
students.” Today you all are free to sit wherever you want” drawing a cheer
from the gang. ’There is an envelope under each desk that has different items
in it. You all have a paper on the desk. You have got to make a picture out of
the stuff in your own envelope’.
As she made way for her students to enter, some rushed
straight to the desired seat, some changed places to be close to their friends
, some changed seats hoping for a better stuff in the envelope .Radha observed
them silently. As they open the envelopes their expressions changed. Some
happy, some sad, some perplexed. Some had beautiful color set, someone had
colorful stones, pebbles, broken twigs, any random stuff. Each one began to
apply his or her mind.. At the end of the activity each one had managed a decent
picture. They looked around anxiously to verify, hoping that they had a better output
than the other. Again some faces beamed, some sulked, some irritated.
“Life is like this, it gives each one a different
challenge, you have to manage within the limitations or resources. You may feel
sad that someone has a better scenario than yours. YET ! You have to pull
yourself up. Accept what’s meted out to you and creatively make a wonderful
life for yourself, again as you do so do not compare and lose morale .All
paintings can’t be the same. THERE IS ONLY ONE ORIGINAL and Unique, and it is
your own - for you .You will be truly happy if you know that you have put in your
best.
So kids, life is a wonderful painting that you will make
with your own set of challenges and opportunities. Do your best and ENJOY THE
PROCESS.”
